What services do you offer?

I am a black and white landscape photographer working with classic analog photography equipment. Many of the tools that I use are well over 50 years old, if not older. I utilize the tried and refined processes that have been in place since photography first became popular in the 19th century.
I also handcraft all my prints in the darkroom. With Ilford photography paper, my enlarger, and the needed chemistry, I combine the classic darkroom techniques to create my photographic prints. Each print has subtle differences and are one of a kind.
I currently work predominantly with my large format, 4×5 inch, cameras. I also utilize my medium format 6×7 cm and 35 mm cameras as well.
Why analog photography?

Digital is everywhere. It is in every aspect of our modern lives. Our lives are greatly enriched by it. However, for me it is important to slow down and to be deliberate. Through my analog photography I am more mindful of my subject, my surroundings, and myself.
It is also important to me to create something that is tangible, other than the end product. Through the analog process, I am actually holding a “thing” that has encoded upon it the chemical reaction created by light and film. It is magical.
Why landscape photography?

In our modern world, we spend so much of our time disconnected form the land around us that it becomes almost an abstract. However, the land around us shapes who we are, our culture, and our spirit. These spaces, vistas, mountains, and clouds are special and connect all of us together as well as connect us to our planet. And often times our lands are under threat. Threat of being taken for granted, that they will always be there or they don’t do anything. This cannot be further from the truth.
For me, I enjoy photographing the land around us. I hope that I am able to pull these spaces out of the abstract, and into reality. Because, if something seems real it is much easier to protect and cherish for generations to come. It is my hope that I can help show the beauty of our world, and maybe assist in protecting it for the next generation.
